Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis from MRI Contrast Dye

Has An MRI Procedure Caused You Injury

An MRI lawsuit is in the works due to a problem known as Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NFS/NFD) which may be caused by the contrast dye used in MRI procedures. This material is said to be causing tight, rigid, coarse skin along with restrictions of movement of the joints as well as skin lesions in some patients. In other cases, MRI lawsuits related to contrast markers are related to problems in people with advanced kidney disease who get other symptoms from this specific type of agent.  An MRI Class action lawsuit from contrast agent use does not seem to imply that the magnetic field of the machine is causing problems, but the MRI contrast dye (which is used to make tissue problems stand out for medical examination) is what is causing problems that can also be construed as disfigurement since the skin tightening and joint problems as well as skin lesions may produce a marked change in appearance or mobility.

Other MRI lawsuits can come up related to the functioning of the machine itself, which can be the result of medical accidents or malpractice. For example, if a patient has magnetic material in his or her body, an MRI may cause bodily harm, or if a magnetic item enters the chamber it can become a dangerous projectile. In one case an oxygen tank was pulled into the MRI while a patient was inside.
